Hare Class Work Plan
I hope you all had a fantastic Easter break.
I am very excited about what we have coming up this term and the children are very enthusiastic about our new topic and all of the exciting things we have planned.
The children are really enjoying our Maths No Problem curriculum. We are working in partners during all of our maths lessons, which allow the children to become problem solvers as they complete their work. They are having a lot of fun learning from each other and participating in our class discussions. This term we will be working on fractions, Roman numerals, movement and positions.
This term the children will be writing short stories and persuasive pieces, and learning about non-chronological reports and debate poems. Our English lessons will also link into our topic, which is the Anglo Saxons. We will also be reading a class book together and exploring story elements, themes and the power of imagery. We are continuing to write using IPEELL, and I have to say that I have seen amazing progress within their writing. I have also seen some great improvement in reading due to the Accelerated Reader program that we are using.
Some of our highlights this term include: looking at lifecycles, living things and habitats in science, learning about construction by designing a raft, researching the continents and identifying the hemispheres, drawing animals and their habitats with pencil and charcoal, and in music we will be looking at celebrations. We also be learning how to be bloggers and architects in computing.
The children are expected to read every day at home and this should be recorded in their homework diary. Maths or topic pieces of homework will also be sent home on Fridays either in their homework books or on sheets which are due in the following Friday. Weekly spellings will be sent home on Friday and should be practiced regularly at home.
This term will be an exciting one! We have Sports day to look forward to and hopefully a class trip linked to our topic.
